I’ve used three highly rated tarps extensively over the years, and while they share much in common, they do have some differences that should be noted as you consider which one you want to add to your kit. Cost. Durability. Warranty.
The Free Soldier Tarp is an entry level tarp – it’s inexpensive and made of 210T ripstop polyester fabric with 2500 PU waterproof rating, enhanced the shelter’s waterproof function and offers long-lasting protection, strengthen tear resistant & puncture resistant material without any worries. It is made in China, and it does feature their marketing as well as including orange ribbon on the edge.
The Aqua Quest Tarp costs about twice as much as the Free Soldier. It features a LIFETIME warranty and is constructed from 70D nylon plus a Heavy TPU coating as well as Reinforced stitching. It also is made overseas.
Then, there’s LiteFighter. They offer their tarp that costs about twice as much as the Aqua Quest. It too is made of nylon, but is 30D and features outstanding reinforcements and is backed by a 45 day warranty. Unlike its competitors, it’s made in the USA.
