Using a tarp for a shelter doesn’t mean you have to get your butt wet, though most configurations will enable just that unless you have an additional item to use as a ground covering. But there is a shelter setup that combines excellent protection from the wind, rain, and a wet ground.

Not very popular in the United States, but there is a tarp set up called the ‘Gunyah’ named after for the Australian aboriginal huts. In this video, we’ll break down this set up and why you may want to consider using it the next time you head out. I am using a 10×10 Aqua Quest Defender Tarp in the video.
